It is now, conceivably, harder than before to write new content for the HandsFaceGrace website. However, given the latest announcement by the government has caused yet more damage to the lives of thousands, and is quite a significant broken promise at that, I would feel, like with most weeks if not every new week that passes by, that an update is in order.

This is unacceptable behaviour from ministers who have the education and experience to know better and to act on that knowledge. Indeed you would have reasonable cause to make the case that it goes as far as criminal. What upsets me though, which I’ve hinted at now and again from the get go up to the present day and running, is that there is a law which really shows utter contempt for human liberties and wellbeing more than any other right now in my opinion, and that would be the coerced and mandatory masks in shops, on public transport, and in other places.

Rewind to my comment on the 5th of June 2020 issue of Lockdown Sceptics, over a week before the first national mask mandate:

It sounds anti-social and counter-conversational to say this, but sadly I do not eat or drink at the premises of British cafés currently due to a seemingly small, but deal-breaking catch. As far as I know ‘test and trace’ forms are now actually a legal requirement there. Even at food markets I’ve been at that did not enforce or push masks, and were otherwise really friendly with me and generally easy about it all (so I’m still certainly on good terms with them), I’ve overheard the staff ask for a customer’s postcode. It is not okay for a barman to get the numbers of a young lady he fancies, so why should we put our names and addresses in the hands of people connected to human rights abusers and Christmas cancellers? If I’m mistaken as to the situation please correct me.

Another baby step taken this year by government, that 2021 now has and 2020 didn’t, would be the irrational mandation of PCR test and (for red-list countries) hotel quarantine regimes. The precise details of what green, amber and red entail are too depressing to remember or to explore in greater detail at the moment — besides, the choice of which colour what country gets has been stolen by Johns Un. Keep positive though — remember that there exists a Common Travel Area, which includes the Republic of Ireland and some small territories under partial control of the United Kingdom, who might just step into the light and ignore this draconian overstep. Always had a soft spot for the craggy coastlines and madcap motorbike mayhem of the Isle of Man.

The best way to take control over a people and control them utterly is to take a little of their freedom at a time, to erode rights by a thousand tiny and almost imperceptible reductions. In this way, the people will not see those rights and freedoms being removed until past the point at which these changes cannot be reversed.
